To Fellow Members of St. Paul’s,

As many of you may know, I under went back surgery on May 7th. With the urging of a few of my dear friends at St Paul’s, I was talked into accepting help from church members in the way of having dinners brought to us during my recovery. Initially I said no, we’ll be fine and really don’t need the help. Then after a few more conversations and thinking about it, I decided I would let them bring dinners 4 nights a week for a month. I cannot tell you how grateful my husband and I were to have the dinners come each night. I’m glad I said 4 nights would be enough because most of the dinners either would feed more then the 2 of us or we’d have leftovers for another night. I was overwhelmed with the response and what wonderful food was sent. Being I’m diabetic, every single dinner was prepared with that consideration and we even received some delicious sugar free desserts! The people who brought dinners were mostly all familiar or known to me but there were 4 families that I didn’t know at all. That was even more touching. We are so lucky to have the kind and generous people at St Paul’s and this project, led by Margaret Shaffer, is a wonderful thing. Everyone I told about the dinners, meaning friends and family, that aren’t members of St Paul’s, couldn’t believe how caring and considerate so many people are in our church to do this. I can tell you that I believe having this support and the support of the visiting of both Pastors, and the many cards I received made a huge differenc in my recovery from this surgery. We indeed have a wonderful church and I want to thank all of you who cooked, sent cards, called me or asked about me and visited. Both my husband and I will never forget the kindness of you all.

Sincerely,

Donna Bruno
